Product Review
Product Description

The Mei Tai carrier is a traditional Asian design that is far more comfortable than many of the newer front or back carriers on the market. The Chinese Made version by Ellaroo is hand embroidered in China. The gorgeous embroidery on each Mei Tai baby carrier is improvised just for EllaRoo by Miao women in a village in China. The making of these baby carriers allows many of the women in the villages to remain there (rather than move to town for factory work, e.g.) and care for their farms and families and also earn extra money for their household. For this carrier, most of the child's weight rests on your hips and the lightly padded straps that cross over the shoulders can be wrapped several different ways to help the user find the most comfortable position for him/herself. Complete wearing instructions are included to help you find the best method of carrying your baby. Reversible, 100% cotton/hemp/natural fibers, with organic cotton batting

Summary: I have used it for 10 months and love it 2007-02-21
Comment: I have used this carrier with my son for 10 months now. I love it. The headrest is perfect in case he falls asleep. The straps are wide and comfy and it is easy to use. I am able to put my 26lb. 14 month old on my back no problem. I am not sure what the other reviewer is referring to, but it is beatifully made and high quality. I recommend this along with the Ergo. I also used the moby wrap when my son was first born. I love all three. I highly recommend this product.

Summary: AWFUL! DANGEROUS FOR BABY AND UNCOMFORTABLE!!! 2006-09-27
Comment: Ok, i admit i am a fashion victim so when i got pregnant i shopped for the trendiest-looking things out there. Now that my baby is almost 5 months old I learned (the hard way) that when it comes to babies, you need the most practical, comfortable and easy to use things. Of course all those backpack-looking baby carriers and slings looked bad and they didn't go with my outfit. But when I got this ellaroo mei tai in the mail I was shocked that I had paid so much for 2 yards of canvas, and it just has no shape at all. It's a plain square with four strings, that's it, you figure it out. Then, you definitely need help to put it on and get it off, and most importantly, to handle the baby during this operation. It is so difficult to do this that your baby will get impatient while you're doing it and you're likely to hurt the baby or drop her while at it. I always do it on a bed, but what if you get off your car and want to do it securely and fast? Impossible! Also, since it's so shapeless, at the bottom your baby has to open wide her legs and that seems to hurt her. She always seems very uncomfortable and I can't make her last more than 20 minutes in it. It also hurts my shoulders and tummy, not to mention that I had a C-section and you have to tie it around the area, really really tight and it hurts my scar. Well, I've said it. It's a worthless piece of s%#t and it's soooo expensive, I can't believe I fell in that trap, I feel robbed. I had to give it 1 star cause that's the lowest. I'd give it the bomb if I could.

Summary: This is the most ornate and beautiful baby carrier I have ever seen 2006-01-16
Comment: A friend of mine bought this from HipBabyCarriers at the end of 2005. When she got it in, I could not believe how beautiful and intricate the embroidery was. It really is a work of art. When she first told me about it, I thought the price was a bit steep but, when my sister told me she paid more than $120 for her Baby Bjorn, this is a complete bargain. Twice as beautiful and far more comfortable. *Definitely* top on my wish list this year.
