Product Description
The ERGO is the way to go when it comes to baby carriers. It's the best all around choice for carrying a baby anywhere from around the house to public places. The ERGO baby carrier is conveniently compact, comfortable to wear and provides sturdy support for your baby. The ergonomic design of the carrier ensures that your baby is in the correct sitting position to encourage proper hip, pelvis and spine growth. It does this by distributing most of the baby's weight between its hips and thighs. The design also considers the health and comfort of parents. The carrier balances the baby's weight to the parents' hips and shoulders, reducing physical stress. The padded waist belt supports the lumbar area plus 1" thick padding in the shoulder straps. It can be worn on front, back or hip and can easily be changed from one to the other. Ergo is perfect for when baby is too heavy for a sling or for when you plan on carrying your baby for extended periods of time, especially for hiking and walking. Unlike other frame back packs, with the ERGO the baby is right against your back so their weight seems less. When carrying a traditional hard frame back pack, your baby's center of gravity is further from your body and can be awkward and feel heavier. For comfortably carrying your infant, try the ERGO Infant Insert (sold separately). It supports your newborn like a baby sling while having both hands free to work. This lightweight carrier lets you carry your baby comfortably for long periods with your hands free and it looks great too. Features: Recommended use from newborn (with additional Infant Insert sold separately) up to 40 lbs Adjusts for most sizes, waist circumference extends from 25" up to 43" Attached Sleeping Hood supports sleeping baby's head and expands with the growth of your child Convenient pocket on back of carrier with side zipper for easy acce
Comment: I ordered this product because so many other Moms I know love the Ergo. I have always used the Moby but decided it was too much work to take on and off so I ordered the Ergo. Although it is well made there are only three positions the baby can be in, all three requiring the baby to face you. My daughter is 6 months old and wants to face out. I tried putting her on my back thinking that she would be able to see and it would be easy for me to carry her. She ended up pulling my hair and her neck looked like it was straining so that she could look around. The reality is that the Moby is just as easy to put on and I can put my daughter in so many more positions, including on my back and the hip hold.

Summary: ergo great for horseback riding 2010-01-30
Comment: We use these to go horse back riding with my twins. My friend carries one and i carry the other. We help each other out getting them on are backs then get on and go. I have the older style so i need to upgrade to a newer version that the head coverage area may be bigger. But these work and i never feel unsafe riding cause they are locked down. My kids go for hours out on the trail at 2 years of age thats a great thing cause they sleep for there naps.

Summary: Thank Goodness for the Ergo! 2010-01-24
Comment: I can not express how much we have enjoyed having the Ergo. I had registered for a Bjorn before my baby was born and a dear mommy friend contacted me and said she'd like to get us a carrier...but an Ergo, not the Bjorn. She said she'd get whatever we really wanted, but that she felt the Ergo was better. I figured she knew best and she did!
We have used the Ergo inside and outside of the house. When our baby boy was young, the Ergo (with infant insert) would instantly calm his down if he was fussy. It allowed me to cook, clean, and move about the house hands free. My husband and I both can wear it comfortably.
The Ergo has been INVALUABLE on our adventures. We travel quite a bit and the Ergo has allowed our son to comfortably go wherever we do. Plus, it's great for naps in airports & airplanes. Our Ergo has been to the US, Wales, England, and Egypt. Our son go so much attention in the Ergo while riding a camel (with me) at the Great Pyramids!
We live in England now and all of the mums want to know where they can get one! I don't know what I'd do without the Ergo! I can not recommend it highly enough.

Summary: Good quality, but.... 2010-01-14
Comment: I'll admit that the Ergo is well made with high quality materials and it feels very sturdy. However, unless you are tall and slender like the models in their videos, I'm not sure this is the greatest product. I am neither slender, nor tall. I have a 32 inch waist, and the belt has to be as loose as possible to fit me (yes I know you can buy the waist extension; please, let me spend MORE money on this product). When I put my toddler in it, following the steps in the instructional DVD, she screamed the entire time. By the time I had everything cinched up despite her unhappiness, she was pressed so tightly against my back that she couldn't move which made her oh so pleased with that situation. I tried several adjustments, but in the end put the Ergo away in disgust and put her in a Kelty backpacker. Another day I decided to try out the $25 infant insert with my 8 week old son. Not much more success there. No matter how much I tried to tug the front of the Ergo up, his head never felt supported, I had to keep my hand behind the insert to support his head; kind of negates the whole "hands-free" thing that Ergo claims. Also, did I mention that I am not tall or slender? I have wide shoulders, and after only a few minutes, my upper back was in agony because the chest strap (fastened behind my back in the front-carry position) was pulling my shoulder blades together. If I loosened it, then the shoulder straps started to slide off. Again, tried several adjustments, but to no avail, and once again shed the whole thing in disgust and just carried my son in my arms.
For what it's worth, my wife likes it, and she is very petite, but she uses a Moby wrap more than anything for the youngest. For all the money we spent, I was expecting the end-all be-all of baby carriers, and was extremely disappointed. Now we have yet another baby carrier sitting in the closet. I'll stick with the Bjorn or Snugli that I've used for all four of our kids.

Summary: Backsaver!!! 2010-01-10
Comment: This is an excellent carrier! Although we loved our baby bjorn for 9 months, our back cant handle the weight of our 25lbs 10 month old baby. This carrier puts the weight partially on the waist. I really felt the difference as soon as i tried it on with my baby. Its also easier to put on and remove. And having different choices on how to carry my baby is wonderful. I wish ive known this product before!
