ERGObaby original and organic Infant Inserts This is a specially padded and shaped cushion that fits into the baby carrier worn on the front. This baby accessory was designed to extend the life of the baby carrier to serve you and your baby as soon as you would like the assistance of a carrier. This way you only need to buy one carrier that will assist you through all the stages of your babys development. It can be quickly and easily placed in the carrier and be readjusted or folded to pad just the right places for your infant. The baby is then cradled in a cozy protected environment close to your heart and breast. It is also a perfect position for breastfeeding. From what little research we have available to us about babywearing it is found that the sling position is the best for your babys physical develop for the first several months. The ERGO Baby Carrier with Infant Insert cradles your baby in just this position. Both legs remain together to one side the head leans to the other side with the babys bottom centered in the middle of the carrier. This review is from: Ergo Infant Insert Green (Baby Product)
As much as we love the Ergo Baby, this insert thing just frustrated us. It doesn't really fit very well and is hard to get in place. We watched the video over and over...

It's very floppy / flimsy and really doesn't provide any support for the babies head (which is why we thought it would be good to have)

We ended up using a lightweight fleece blanket about 2-1/2 foot square.

I don't think you need this.

I don't think you need this. It's really only for the first month or two anyways....
