Ergo Dark Chocolate Organic Baby Carrier

This is absolutely the best carrier I have found. In fact, this is the second one I bought. I started with the Baby Bjorn and it started hurting my back and my daughter outgrew it by the time she 5-6 months old. I tried the Infantino side carrier, and I couldn't wear it for more than half an hour before it started hurting. So I did my research and found the Ergo, and couldn't be happier. My daughter flew back and forth to Dallas (2 planes each way) in the Ergo and was able to take a bottle, sleep and play happily the whole time. We just went to Disney and I wore my daughter all day. She was happy and so was I, it was easy to get her out when we thought she would want to face front, and just as easy to get her back in. After 4 days on wearing my 18 lb daughter I had no back pain at all. I can put her on my side and make dinner when she's fussy, and it's the only place she'll sleep when she's out and about.

We have a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and an Ergo Baby. The Ergo Baby is the one we use, the other two we donated to the salvation army. We also had 2 slings (both donated from friends)

The big advantage the Ergo has is the waist strap. This shifts a significant amount of weight to your hips. Otherwise the entire weight is held on your shoulders, which gets to be quite uncomfortable after a while.

By putting the weight on your hips, the Ergo Baby makes it possible to carry a child who weighs more and for a longer period of time. I wish we'd found this with our first child, as it would have saved us money (for the other ones we bought) and our aching backs!!!!

There's also a couple of pockets - one with a zipper. Good place to put your cell phone, wallet, etc. The Snugli had a pocket with snap, while the Bjorn had none. Like many of the other reviewers, I went through numerous carriers (2 slings, baby bjorn, and lascal) before I found the Ergo Baby Carrier. It is an essential baby item. If I could only keep one baby product, this would be it. Here is why I like it so much:

Comfort Level: The Ergo is amazingly comfortable. I am 5'1", 110 lbs and baby is 10 months, 28 inches, 21 lbs. The other carriers all caused back or shoulder pain that made it impossible for me to wear them for very long. (I will say that a sling is useful to have for a newborn. But once baby gains a little weight, the sling really kills your shoulder.) I use the Ergo every weekday to take baby to and from daycare. And on the weekends, I can wear her for hours while I run errands and tidy up the house. I have narrow hips, and initially I experienced some lower-back pain with prolonger wear; however, I realized that I was wearing the waist strap too high.
