Infantino Side Seater Baby Carrier in Black and Grey

I read reviews of the other hip carriers and this carrier seems to address most issues that were negative with the others. I also have a front carrier, and after using this hip carrier for a while, which puts a good portion of baby's weight on your hips, the front carrier was not as comfortable on my back anymore. I tried a playtex one on in a store and liked this one better. I did try using this when baby was smaller and it did not work well, but now that she is 19 pounds, we both like it. Today she fell asleep in it again. The carrier does not support baby's head, but it is not a huge deal to hold her head close. The one issue I have with it is the shoulder pad that seems to like to rotate around, so I have to keep adjusting it so the "softer" side is down. Other than that, the fact is that you are lugging around a larger baby and there is nothing out there that is going to keep that comfortable for more than an hour or so. I have had this carrier for over a year now. Got it when my son was a few months old. I have the Infantino front to back carrier, but that is not such a good carrier when the temps go over 90. This one does not make you feel like you are suffocating as there is sufficient air flow. It also allows you to be hands free. I use it still with my son who is 19 months and 26 pounds. I do get shoulder pain, but that's not a surprise with how big he is. I have also found that i can twist it while he is in it so that he is more behind me than in front. Comes in very handy when I am gardening and I need him out of the way more. But he can still peek around my arm and shoulder to watch what I am doing. I have just started putting my 4 month old daughter in it and she loves it. Their is no head support, but it really isn't a problem as it sits just right that her head can rest in the crook of my arm. I ordered this side carrier for my child care program. I wanted a side carrier so I could keep the little 6 month high need baby with me and still be able to do my job. Like most carriers I found this one uncomfortable after a short time. The baby was unhappy in it but that could just be this particular baby....he wants to be HELD not strapped on. I did use it with a teething 15 month old and he seemed happier in it. There is more than the usual amount of padding and it is more comfortable than a front carrier or sling.....at least for me. I do like that it has a higher weight limit.
Bottom line...this is a good one to have when you have a fussy baby or toddler but don't expect to use it all day without pain.
