Updated for 2008! By quickly and easily transforming from a mid-sized day pack into a child carrier, the feature-rich Kelty Transit Carrier TC 3.0 is ideally suited for on-the-go parents. Sleek and compact, the Transit Carrier TC 3.0 is actually more maneuverable than a traditional, bulkier child carrier. The Transit Carrier TC 3.0's 1700 cubic inch capacity packbag provides ample room for storing diapers, gear or other supplies. Compression straps on the side of the packbag loosen and expand to reveal a child-seat with a 5-point safety harness. The height of the seat can be adjusted to account for the growth of your child. A lightweight, internal aluminum frame adds stability to the Transit Carrier TC 3.0, ensuring proper load transfer and enabling the Transit Carrier TC 3.0 to carry up to 40 lbs., including your child, the pack itself and gear. An integrated adjustment slider allows you to customize the suspension of the Transit Carrier TC 3.0 to fit torsos ranging from 11" to 19". Together, the contoured and padded shoulder straps, a cushioned molded backpanel and a padded waistbelt make the Transit Carrier TC 3.0 comfortable to carry. Load-lifter straps and a sternum strap further enhance fit and provide greater comfort. The Transit Carrier TC 3.0 has a large, top-accessed main compartment. An additional zippered front pocket offers further storage and can be removed for use as a diaper bag with its very own shoulder straps! Mesh pockets are designed for storage and quick access to bottles. A zippered pocket on the waistbelt provides another storage option for valuables. Sewn-in carry handles make the Transit Carrier TC 3.0 easy to tote. Additional features include an integrated removable changing pad, a sun/rain hood and a child-view mirror that provides contortion-free ability to keep an eye on your child. Made of 450D polyester and brushed nylon fabrics, the Kelty Transit Carrier TC 3.0 is available in your choice of Cherry or Black color options.

Summary: My son loves it! 2008-05-14
Comment: This pack turned out to be everything I thought it would be. I got it to carry my 14 month old in and he loves being in it. Although I haven't had a chance to use it on a full-out backpacking trip or anything, it does great for day hikes and doing work around the house. It took me a few trips to get all the settings to be the most comfortable, but once I got them set it was great.

Comment: I bought this pack for a trip to Disney World with my 2 daughters (10 months and 2 years.) Both of my girls loved being carried in this pack. They love being up where they can see. My kids like to ride on my shoulders in a crowed. This was way more comfortable!
The sun cover worked great and stows away easily when the sun goes down. My 10 month old was so comfortable she took daily naps in the pack. We did need to keep adjusting her head so she looked comfortable. The mirror was a great way for me to see how she was doing. The pack was comfortable to wear even when towing my 30 pound 2 year old.
I carried my daughter right into the plane and stowed the backpack in the overhead compartment. This is an innovative, well made product. This company knows backpacks! I would definitely recommend this backpack to a friend. It is great for trips where lots of walking is inevitable.

Summary: Stylish and comfy 2008-04-09
Comment: The quality of the backpack is worth the cost. I love the fact that when not in use as a child carrier, it looks just like any other Kelty pack. It is lightweight, and has a ton of storage space. The carrier section is sturdy, adjustable, and provides and great view for the child. The 3.0 also has the adjustable torso length feature which is worth paying every extra penny for. I was able to find the exact place where the weight was perfectly balanced on my back. It is easy to get on and off, and you can still load the child on any flat surface, even without the large metal kickstand style frames like the other child packs. The look of the pack is equally as cool for city walking or back country hikes.
